At The Green Village, a place at the Technical University of Delft where many technical innovations are installed and tested, DC Opportunities installed a bipolar 350/700V DC microgrid. This advanced system is designed to power essential infrastructure, including street lighting and an electric vehicle (EV) charger, demonstrating the future of sustainable energy solutions.
The microgrid at The Green Village is uniquely meshed, ensuring both stability and robustness in energy distribution. Solar panels supply the system with clean energy, which is either stored in batteries for later use or delivered directly to the grid’s loads. Power converters developed by DC Opportunities ensure seamless integration and efficient operation of all components within the system.
To guarantee reliability and safety, the entire microgrid is protected by DC Opportunities’ advanced solid-state protection technology, which provides high-performance and fail-safe functionality. This project highlights the potential of renewable energy and DC microgrids to transform the way we power our communities.
